Ari Lennox
Courtney Shanade Salter, born April 26, 1991 often referred to professionally by the name Ari Lennox, hails from Washington, D.C. and was the first female to be signed to J. Cole's Dreamville Records label. In the month of October Ari Lennox dropped her debut EP Pho. It was here that she was recognized. Shea Butter Baby her debut studio release was May 7th 2019. Ari Lennox released her songs online in 2012, when she dropped her five Finger Discount mixtape and Ariography EP in 2013. In 2014, Ari Lennox continued posting her music on the internet, as well as her own single Bound. On July 21 2015 she was featured on Omen's album Elephant Eyes with the track Sweat it Out. The following year, her music circulated throughout the Dreamville team, as J. Cole wanted her to work with him on some possible references for Rihanna. Her announcement to be signed by Dreamville Records was made on December 8th. Backseat was the result of her participation to The Revenge of the Dreamers II album. On October 21 2016 she released her debut EP called Pho. Ari Lennox was a guest on J. Cole's Change as well as performing as part of her own 4 Your Eyez Only Tour as opening act. In 2018 she guest-starred on two songs alongside her label-mates EarthGang to Nothing but the Best. Also, she appeared on Bas On Icarus. The 16th of July, 2018, Ari Lennox released the first single, Whipped Cream on her first album Shea Butter Baby with an accompanying music video that was released on September 5. Her second single, Grampa on November 9. On November 13 the singer released two new singles entitled The No One as well as Pdigree. Shea Butter Baby. Shea Butter Baby later made an appearance on the Creed II album soundtrack alongside Cole. The singer released the single in order to announce her debut album Creed II on 26 February 2019. A music video debuted on 20 February 2019 to go along with the track. Within one period of a week, the video had more than 3 million views. She supported 6LACK's From East Atlanta With Love Tour at the end of December the year 2018.
