Courtney Shanade Salter, born April 26, 1991 often referred to professionally by the name Ari Lennox, hails from Washington, D.C. and was the first female to be signed to J. Cole's Dreamville Records label. In the month of October Ari Lennox dropped her debut EP Pho. It was here that she was recognized. Shea Butter Baby her debut studio release was May 7th 2019. Ari Lennox released her songs online in 2012, when she dropped her five Finger Discount mixtape and Ariography EP in 2013. In 2014, Ari Lennox continued posting her music on the internet, as well as her own single Bound. On July 21 2015 she was featured on Omen's album Elephant Eyes with the track Sweat it Out. The following year, her music circulated throughout the Dreamville team, as J. Cole wanted her to work with him on some possible references for Rihanna.
